Backup Instructions:
- Extract the .CUE file from the RAR archive using MacRAR. and examine the .CUE file using a text-editor.
- If there is only one data track then you can burn it right away.
If there are more (audio) tracks then there is no way to burn it as there is no Mac utility able to separate a (CDRWIN) .BIN file into separate data & audio tracks.
Binchunker for Mac or PC doesn't work properly.
- The .CUE file can be deleted as you don't need it anymore.
- Extract the .BIN file using MacRAR
Can take several minutes to complete depending on the speed of your Macintosh!
Do not use Stuffit Expander to decode the .BIN file, this is NOT a MACBINARY file!
- If needed apply a patch, using PPF-O-Matic, to the extracted data track.
Usually .BIN files downloaded off the net are pre-patched.
- Start Adaptec/Roxio
Toast.
- Click Disc Image and select the .BIN file or drag&drop the .BIN file into the Toast window.
- When ready click OK.
- Click Record and set a writing speed.
- When ready click Write Disc to start
the copy process.

- Keep in mind that the track
order is VERY important, Track 01 (Data track) should ALWAYS
be on top of the list then the Audio Track 02, 03...
tracks should follow (if there are any).
- Make sure that all tracks, except the last audio track, have a 2 seconds pause between them. The last audio track should have a 0 second pause.
- Writing at 1x speed is the safest write speed but higher speeds will also work, just experiment what works best!
- Astarte CD-Copy 2.0.3e is strongly recommended for Mac users using OS 9/9.1.
- If you have an older version of Toast, go out and do something for a bit or read a book or something. If you have Toast Titanium, feel free to click out of the window and do whatever background tasks you wish to do.
- A typical burn can range anywhere from 10 minutes to more than an hour, depending on the size of the original CD.
